What is Hashimoto's thyroiditis?
Hashimoto's is an autoimmune condition where the immune system gradually targets the thyroid. It is the most common cause of an underactive thyroid in Australia, and antibodies can be raised for years before TSH changes. Symptoms include fatigue, feeling cold, hair thinning, constipation and low mood.
WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE
When the tests say fine and you do not feel it.
TSH is a useful screen, but it does not show how much active hormone reaches your cells.
Fatigue that sleep does not fix
Feeling cold when others are not
Hair thinning or dry skin
Slow digestion and constipation
Weight that will not shift
Low mood or brain fog
HOW I WORK WITH THYROID AND HASHIMOTO’S
Read the pattern. Restore the balance.
Your symptoms are how your body asks for what it needs. I read the pattern behind them, then choose herbs and nutrients the same way: matched to that pattern, to ease the disharmony, calm the nervous system and rebuild your reserves, so your body can come back into balance and heal.
01
Read the pattern
TSH, free T4, free T3, reverse T3 and antibodies, read through Endobiogeny alongside the adrenal and sex hormones the thyroid responds to.
02
Calm the nervous system
A body under long-term stress slows its thyroid on purpose. Easing that load comes first.
03
Ease the disharmony
Herbs and nutrients matched to your pattern: supporting conversion, minerals, the gut and immune tolerance.
04
Build reserves
Steady nourishment, sleep and rhythm, so the thyroid no longer has to conserve energy, alongside any medication you take.
WHAT TO TEST
The results that change the plan.
TSH is a useful screen. On its own it cannot show how much active hormone reaches your cells.
TSH, free T4 and free T3
Storage and active hormone together.
Reverse T3
Where stress or illness may be slowing conversion.
Thyroid antibodies
TPO and thyroglobulin, to check for Hashimoto's.
Iron, B12 and vitamin D
Low iron in particular mimics thyroid symptoms.
Coeliac screen and Gut microbiome mapping
Where there are gut symptoms, autoimmunity or a family history.
