What is endometriosis?
Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside it, most often in the pelvis. It affects around one in seven Australian women and people assigned female at birth, and causes painful periods, pelvic pain, bowel symptoms and fatigue. It is inflammatory as well as hormonal.
WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE
When pain shapes your month.
Endometriosis takes seven years, on average, to diagnose, and bowel symptoms are often mistaken for IBS. The immune system tolerates tissue it should clear while inflammation around it stays high, oestrogen is made in the lesions themselves, and the nervous system can turn the pain up over time. Each thread can be worked on.
Periods that stop you working or living fully
Heavy bleeding, clots or flooding
Pelvic pain between periods, or with sex
Endo belly: bloating that swells with your cycle
Pain with bowel motions or passing urine
Fatigue, low iron, or difficulty conceiving
HOW I WORK WITH FERTILITY AND PRECONCEPTION
Read the pattern. Restore the balance.
Your symptoms are how your body asks for what it needs. I read the pattern behind them, then choose herbs and nutrients the same way: matched to that pattern, to ease the disharmony, calm the nervous system and rebuild your reserves, so your body can come back into balance and heal.
01
Read the pattern
EndoMAP, DUTCH and gut microbiome testing for the hormonal, inflammatory and toxin patterns, read with your history through Endobiogeny.
02
Calm the nervous system
Long-standing pain sensitises the nervous system. Settling it eases the pain response itself.
03
Ease the disharmony
Herbs and nutrients matched to your pattern: supporting how oestrogen is cleared, the gut and a calmer inflammatory response, before and after any surgery.
04
Build reserves
Iron, energy and nourishment after heavy bleeding, with rhythm and gentle movement, alongside your gynaecologist.
WHAT TO TEST
The results that change the plan.
Diagnosis belongs with your gynaecologist. These tests shape the support around it.
Iron studies
Heavy bleeding drains iron.
Inflammatory markers
Tracked across your cycle.
Gut testing
Where bowel symptoms are part of the picture.
Hormone testing
How oestrogen is made and cleared.
Vitamin D
Commonly low.

QUESTIONS
-
Yes. A naturopath looks at the systems behind your symptoms together, including hormones, the gut, blood sugar, the nervous system and nutrition, and builds one plan around them, alongside your GP.
-
Yes. All consultations are online by video. Testing is arranged through collection centres near you, and herbal medicine is posted to you. Clients join from across Australia and overseas.
-
No. It is increasingly described as an immune and inflammatory condition too: the immune system tolerates tissue it should clear, while inflammation around it stays high.
-
Bloating that swells with the cycle, driven by inflammation, histamine and often the gut. It is very common and can be worked on.
-
Very often. Up to nine in ten women have gut symptoms, the gut helps clear oestrogen, and gut and reproductive tract bacteria are being studied.
-
Bacteria such as Fusobacterium, chronic endometritis and some viruses are being studied in endometriosis. They are checked when your history points to them.
-
Yes. Excision surgery and hormonal treatment stay with your specialist, and everything I prescribe is checked against them and shared with your team.
-
Neither is a cure. Pregnancy may ease symptoms for a time, and disease outside the uterus can remain after a hysterectomy.
