What is Lyme disease, or DSCATT?
Lyme disease is an infection caused by Borrelia bacteria carried by ticks. In Australia, illness after tick bites is recognised as DSCATT, Debilitating Symptom Complexes Attributed to Ticks. Symptoms often move around the body and cycle in waves: pain, fatigue, nerve symptoms, palpitations and brain fog
WHAT IT CAN LOOK LIKE
When symptoms move and nobody connects them.
Tick-borne illness often cycles in waves and crosses many systems, which makes it hard to name. In Australia it may be called DSCATT, a term that recognises you are genuinely unwell without naming a cause. That label should open the inquiry, not close it. What helps recovery does not wait for the cause to be named
Pain that moves from joint to joint
Fatigue in waves
Tingling, numbness or nerve pain
Headaches and light sensitivity
Palpitations
Brain fog and poor sleep
HOW I WORK WITH FERTILITY AND PRECONCEPTION
Read the pattern. Restore the balance.
Your symptoms are how your body asks for what it needs. I read the pattern behind them, then choose herbs and nutrients the same way: matched to that pattern, to ease the disharmony, calm the nervous system and rebuild your reserves, so your body can come back into balance and heal.
01
Read the pattern
A detailed history and timeline, testing through your doctor and specialist labs, and Endobiogeny for how your body is coping.
02
Calm the nervous system
A body that has been unwell for a long time is often braced. Settling it comes before anything demanding.
03
Ease the disharmony
Herbs and nutrients matched to your pattern, introduced slowly, with elimination supported first, alongside your doctor.
04
Build reserves
Pacing, the gut, energy and resilience rebuilt in order, so recovery can hold..
WHAT TO TEST
The results that change the plan.
Testing shows which pattern is leading, so the plan fits you.
Rickettsia and Q fever serology
Through your GP, repeated a few weeks apart.
Specialist tick-borne testing
Through your doctor and specialist laboratories.
Coinfection testing
Where your history suggests it.
Mould panel
Mould often sits alongside tick-borne illness.
Routine bloods, read through Endobiogeny
How the terrain is coping.
Iron, B12 and vitamin D
Depletion slows recovery.

QUESTIONS

-
Lyme disease is diagnosed in Australians bitten overseas. The northern species has not been found in Australian ticks, but native Australian Borrelia has, and testing is still developing.
-
Debilitating symptom complexes attributed to ticks. The Department of Health term for people who are seriously unwell after a tick bite. It recognises the illness without naming a cause.
-
Also called alpha-gal syndrome. A tick bite can trigger an allergy to red meat, with reactions two to six hours after eating. A specific blood test confirms it, and an allergy specialist guides management.
-
The best-established tick-borne infection in Australia, including Queensland tick typhus and Flinders Island spotted fever. Fever, a dark scab and a rash after a bite need a doctor the same day.
-
Testing is limited and symptoms cross many systems, so the picture is often missed.
-
Yes. Antibiotic treatment is a medical decision, and care is coordinated.
